Ametrine is a rare combination of amethyst and citrine. It is considered a stone of abundance and heightened spiritual awareness. Amethyst is the purple ray of the quartz family that gets its purple coloring from manganese and iron inclusions. The name comes from the Greek word meaning not drunken, hence its association with remaining sober and abstaining from alcohol. Amethyst is formed from quartz crystal, usually occurs in volcanic gas cavities and its classic purple color is caused by manganese and iron inclusions.
