Calcite is one of my all-time favorites as it forms in a wide variety of colors and crystal habits, you can never get bored with calcite! This calcite specimen is sprinkled with pyrite that makes for a visually appealing piece. Size: 4.0" x 6.0" x 2.5" Locality: El Hamam, Morocco Originally $94.99 Calcites are known to be energy amplifiers and cleansers. They are also known as “the student’s stone” as they are believed to help retain information when studying, I find all types of calcite to be calming and soothing. Crystal System: Hexagonal system (trigonal subsystem) Mohs hardness: 2.5- 3.0 Chakra association: Throat & Third Eye Element: Water Pyrite is both grounding and energizing which is a perfect combination for balancing polarities and is considered a powerful protection stone that dispels negative energy. I associate the fire of pyrite with male and outward yang energies as well as the earth since the earth’s core is comprised of metals. Pyrite minerals are also known as “fool’s gold” because its shiny metallic yellow color that has often caused it to be mistaken for gold by novice gold prospectors. The ancient Incas were said to use pyrite as a mirror. Crystal System: isometric Mohs hardness: 6.0 to 6.5 Chakra association: solar plexus. I have also used it for the earth star and have known people to use it at the crown chakra as well.
