Hematite Cluster , Mineral Specimen, Botryoidal Hematite, Root Chakra Stone

When I think of hematite, I see the Earth’s core. It is an extremely grounding form of iron (lll) oxide (Fe203). Its name comes from the Greek word for blood. It is known for its grounding properties, and like other dark and black stones it is believed to transmute negative energy. Size: 3.0" x 3.0" to 1.0" Locality: Taouz, Morocco I am particularly fond of botryoidal hematite as I just love the way the round, lozenge shapes that reflect hematite's silvery light. It is visually interesting and enhances any mineral collection. Botryoidal is a mineral habit in which the mineral has globular formations/shapes that resemble grapes, derived from the Greek. Anytime that I need to ground myself and/or find that I am feeling stressed or anxious I take a piece of hematite and hold it in my hand, taking in several slow, deep breathes I visualize myself connecting to the Earth’s core through a thread coming out of soles of my feet: like a tree that is rooted in the ground.
