Also known as Dragon Stone, Septarian nodules or concretions were formed during the Cretaceous Period approximately 50 to 70 million years ago. They were called Dragon’s Stone by the ancients as they believed that the dragons breathed fire into the earth to form them.
This sphere is a must have for any septarian lover. The spherical shape is representative of the whole, the whole universe as well as the whole person. The spherical shape radiates out the energy of the crystal in all directions, imbuing the room with the dragon stone.
Locality: Madagascar
Size: Between 2.5" x 2.5"
Septarians are considered ancient wise ones and are associated with healing and resonate with the Earth energies. I think of it like this, okay I crack open this entity and I look inside and ask what am I looking at what does it have to tell me? I see lovely patterns and colors and lines that formed through a series of processes, and I begin to think of my life and the patterns that formed, when milestones took place and all the events that colored who I am today. Then I reflect, acknowledge, accept and progress. They have many lessons to teach us. Going within and evolving is a healing process.
I associate the calcite with calm, aragonite with grounding and the yellow of the calcite as uplifting. The process in which they evolve and form represents how nurturing Mother Earth is to us and our own processes of evolving.
How did these marvels form? Well, to the best of my understanding it went something like this: There were volcanic eruptions, the volcanic eruptions killed smaller sea life and the minerals in the shells and dead sea life attracted sea floor sediments and the minerals and sediments chemically bonded. As the ocean receded these mud balls began to dry and shrink and crack into the lovely patterns we see today.
Simply put, they are fossil mud balls….
The cracks are called “septaria”, from the Latin septum; partition.
Their colors correspond to the following minerals: calcite is yellow, aragonite is brown, limestone is grey, and barite is white to clear.
Tid Bit: The yellow calcite will fluoresce under uv illumination.
